When Sammie stopped letting me pet her, for the 6 months she was mad at me, I volunteered in a kitten shelter, but I started choking from my allergies. It was too much of cat for me. I got to socialize and hold the kittens and other cats and I was helping out and enjoyed it so much myself.
My husband was petting her on the edge of the bed. It got to be a thing for her and him. Since I was feeding her to start a new relationship with her, I would sit on the floor and began to pet her. And every time I fed her, I would lean over and pet her from head to tail once. To describe it better, swipe my hand from her head down to the tail. She let me do this.
My legs and knees were killing me so I got a little collapsible step stool and sat on that. She would head bump my butt and ask for more. So I had my place to pet her, and my husband had his place to pet her.I had the job of feeding her so she would associate me with good.
If I was petting her and she saw my husband, she would run and leave me for him to pet her. The vet said many females favor men and males favor females. She definitely let me know. We had now had Sammie for a year. It was time for her 2nd yearly vet appointment.
Our first vet was very good but in a more expensive part of town and very expensive. Our neighbor advised us of one that was good and not as expensive. So Sammie went in for her yearly appointment. I feared if we needed to pull another tooth. Her gingivitis was bad as I could smell her bad breath. The vet knocked her out and she was away for the day.
It was strange to not see her for a day and she was gone. Like our little girl went out. Yes I know she is a cat, but she is our little girl too. My love sure has grown for her. She recovered this time and no teeth required pulling. Looks like we may have to give her yearly cleanings when they knock her out.
We always make an appointment first and check her out. Otherwise she is in good health.
